Inconsistent menu button UX

Version: 0.9.0 (build: 42)

Device model: BRAVIA 4K UR2

Device RAM: 2301 MB

When the graphics preset is set to 'high' the settings menu will have some feedback when pressing up/down left/right. This happens even if there is no action behind the behaviour.

This is confusing as some of the menu items (ie. General > Home & Wallpaper) have an arrow and a submenu hidden behind it.

Current behaviour

An animation is shown when pressing any of the direction buttons on the remote.

Expected behaviour

An animation is shown when pressing any of the direction buttons on the remote. The 'right arrow' button would select the menu item just like 'select' button would on the remote.

I'm a little confused by the description of this one, but if I'm understanding, you're feeling is that in cases like when the Home & Wallpaper button is highlighted (Settings -> General -> Home & Wallpaper), pressing right should take you to the next screen, same as select does, right?

I can agree with that, since in these dual pane views that logic does work for the left lane items.

Do you believe as well, though, that the same is true of the Home & Wallpaper screen? For example, should pressing right on the Look & Feel button take you to the next page?

Paul Dhaliwal Sorry it is hard to describe this in words, but you exactly described what I meant. I caught myself pressing the right button multiple times when navigating the menu, to then curse at my TV for being slow, only to realize seconds later that it was me not pressing the button I was supposed to.

It might be muscle memory, or chevron on the button telling my brains to expect it, but I have been doing it for at least 15 times in a row.

I think that, when you implement this to happen when pressing 'Home & Wallpaper' that I would continue on my right clicking spree and expect 'Look & Feel' to behave the same. Right now this is not an issue, because my right clicking spree has ended on 'Home & Wallpaper' and my finger is already on the 'Select' button.
